Using professional Translators and Interpreters

“Because of a certain or because it is not, it is question”

“To be or not to be, that is the question”, translated from Japanese using a free on-line service

Translators (written) and interpreters (spoken) are highly trained and highly qualified professionals who have studied for many years to attain academic standards. Frequently educated to above degree level, they are usually members of professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Linguists, Cymdeithas Cyfiethwyr Cymru (the Association of Welsh translators and Interpreters), the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, the AIIC (the International Association of Conference Interpreters) and, if they are working in the public sector, are on the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI). Companies working in this field might also be members of the Association of Translation Companies (ATC).

Professional translators will never translate out of their mother tongue and will also have expertise in a number of technical and academic fields in addition to their language skills. Using unqualified translators or free on-line translation services is a false economy which can frequently result in the sort of gibberish like the one in this page heading.

The following are links to articles on this website which give you further reasons for using professional translators and hints on how to make your life and that of the translators a bit easier. And then, download one of our PDF guides:
