I spent 6 months in Spain and I have to say that it truly is the best
experience I have ever had.
There was a wide choice of places to choose from but I decided that Cáceres
was the place for me. Although it was a journey into the unknown I was
dying to move over there and meet native Spanish people. I immediately
realised that the experience was going to be a valuable one, not only
for improving my language but also for improving my social life!
My dreams came true when I saw the cheap food and drink and the pretty
girls and football being discussed everywhere across the country, whether
on the television or in the street. Also, I made so many good friends
and there will always be a place for me to stay in the future and that
means I won’t have to pay for a hotel.
I regularly visited Madrid and as you can see from the accompanying photograph
I was very fond of the Bernabeu , Real Madrid’s stadium. I watched
the match between Spain and England and as you could imagine, I was adopted
by the Spanish when they were singing and shouting for the Spanish to
win.
To begin with, the dialect and accent confused me a little but after
a short time, I was speaking like a local and using all sorts of sayings
and idioms.
The year abroad was the best year of my life and and I woud recommend
it to anyone.
