Do you think that the fact that you studied languages helped you to obtain this post? It hasn't helped me to obtain my current post but they certainly helped me to get previous jobs in multinational French and Italian Companies. It was also of great use when I was self-employed.

Could you tell us more about the nature of the job outlining main tasks and responsibilities?
I'm the Director of a Pharmaceutical Company responsible for HR/Training/Health, Safety and Environment. Previously I was a Senior Manager in food and automotive mainly, HR/Manufacturing and Commercial Management.

Do you use your languages frequently? If so, in which situations?
I use them daily with French and Italian organisations and when I travel l overseas.

What other jobs have you done since leaving university?
As above, mainly Greenfield site start-ups, French, Italian, American and Japanese.

What is the best thing about learning another language in your opinion?
Learning about different cultures, different ways of doing business and being able to teach my children.

What would you say to those who are reluctant to carry on with their languages?
It just needs practise and confidence, enriches life greatly and enhances career opportunities.
