Community Languages in Wales
Welcome to the community languages pages of the website, celebrating the diversity of languages here in Wales.
In its action plan, Making Languages Count, the Welsh Assembly Government seeks to "recognise and develop the knowledge and skills in home and community languages held by many learners."
As part of this work, we at CILT Cymru, in collaboration with our colleagues in CILT, the national centre for languages, on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government, carried out a survey of the provision and accreditation of community languages in secondary schools in Wales. The resulting report can be seen here, along with case studies of good practice, a guide to available qualifications and signposts to further sources of support.
