A group of 12 year 9 students were selected to attend a business visit to Ancon. The visit was organised by CILT Cymru to promote languages in business. Ancon is an International company that produces stainless steel fixings for the building industry. The factory that we went to is situated on Deeside Industrial Park,

Donna Williams-Bevan of Schaeffler in Llanelli visited Year 9 pupils at Ysgol Ystalyfera on Monday 28^th January 2013.  Donna gave an inspiring and interesting presentation about her background as a linguist, detailing why she chose to study languages, and how useful the ability to speak different languages has been in her career.

Llanishen High School has taken part in many successful school trips with Schools into Europe over recent years and on 14^th November, four Year 9 pupils visited the company and met with the Operations Director Rhys Denison. 

Four Caldicot Comprehensive pupils studying Business French NVQ visited Capital Law, Cardiff accompanied by their teacher Eve Stokoe.  The purpose of the visit was to see how businesses in Wales use languages.

On 4th July, the NVQ French Business Language group visited Wolfestone, a multi award winning translation company in Swansea.

Modern Foreign Languages at Brynhafren Comprehensive School in Barry is really taking off.

Foreign languages have flourished at the school and this is very much as a result of the exciting challenge set by the Airport this year.

BCB International, a company tucked away on an industrial estate in Cardiff was a real find for the BLC Scheme. The company designs and manufactures high quality gadgets and products for the military worldwide.

The steel plant in Port Talbot has always provided the backdrop to the lives of students of Dyffryn Comprehensive School in the town.  However, little have the children realised that there is a firm link between French at school and the plant. One pupil exclaimed “I didn’t know they used languages there!”

On the 8^th of December , 19 pupils from Ysgol Gyfun  Aberaeron visited the  Schaeffler Group  plant in Llanelli.

Ancon is a company which designs and manufactures high integrity steel products for the construction industry. Within Ancon, French, German and Spanish is spoken. One of their UK plants is located in Deeside Industrial Park.

On the 27^th January 2011, 8 NVQ students from Bishopston Comprehensive School, Swansea were lucky enough to visit the Spectrum Technologies offices in Bridgend.

‘Cardiff and Co’ is the organisation responsible for promoting Cardiff. Carys Pugh D’Auria, the Head of Trade and Investment at ‘Cardiff and Co’ visited Cantonian High School on the 2^nd of February 2011 in order to highlight the link between MFL and selling the city to the outside world.

In October 2009, Brynmawr School year 9 pupils linked up with a visiting French School at Big Pit. Since then, years 7, 8 & 9 pupils have been corresponding with pen pals from College Jean Gremillon on a variety of topics such as exchanging recipes and cultural information.
